Users who don't want to follow the onboarding flow and just want to dive right in, check out this overview of the desktop platform if you want to see all the features we offer.
If you already have an account and know a little about investing, you can start the onboarding process from this page, which consists of three steps to introduce you to CityFALCON's main strengths. You'll first tell us which market segment you belong to, then which topics and asset classes you want to track, and finally, you'll build your first watchlist.
Let's step through it together.
The Segments
CityFALCON personalises news for you in various ways, and one of them is through your segment group. We use segments to deliver news relevant to common groups of investors and market participants. Here, you can choose from personal segments, like daytraders or journalists. On the other hand, if you're a business user, you can choose a segment that most closely coincides with your department or role at work.

People that are part of a segment tend to need the same information, and so by taking this step, you can be aligned with others in that segment. Of course, if you don't want content directed at any specific group, you can just skip this step. You can choose more than one, too, so you aren't boxed into a single group.
Topic Classes
The next step is Topic Classes, where you can select various predefined topics to choose from. We have listed the most popular on this onboarding page, but you aren't limited to only these topics. These are not added directly to your watchlist, but they're used as indicators of your preferences.
Creating a Watchlist
The final step in this first process is to build a watchlist with specific topics. The Watchlist is a persistent set of topics that you can track through our system. In this initial build, you don't have to include everything, because you can always change your watchlists later.
We recommend your first watchlist only have a few topics you want to track so you can get the most accurate and most relevant results. When searching, you'll notice that we categorise individual topics and securities by topic classes, too. You can use these categorisations to help you choose the correct topic.
For example, the term "oil" has many topics associated with it, so you can use the categorisation to get the most exact match and avoid extraneous results.
Once you finish this step, you're all done. You've determined a segment, chosen some broad topic classes you're interested in, and added specific topics to your watchlist. Now you can explore the site and test out all the features we bring you.
