One of our goals is to keep you at the forefront of the information flow. When we see a story is being published in many places very quickly, we know it's a big story since all the news organisations are scrambling to print it. We bring this insight to you under Trending Topics. Another way we identify these stories is via tweets. If lots of tweets referencing the same story or hashtag are pouring in, we know it's a trending topic and we will present that to you.
Trending differs from Popular by the volume and frequency of publication. Popular topics are ones that many people like, but popular topics may only be published by one or two sources. Trending, on the other hand, may be heavily disliked (like a bad event), but many sources are publishing or referencing the same event or topic at the same time.
We have the Trending Bar for a quick glance at what's trending and the Trending Tab. If you're using our voice solutions, you can also ask for trending items there.
